The Association for the Study of Japanese Language and Literature

Welcome to our site.

Founded in January 1956, the Association for the Study of Japanese Language and Literature was established to foster contacts between academic associations in Japanese language and literature at different universities, to share research findings in the field, and to promote further research activity. The Association is an academic society that transcends individual areas of specialization, gathering those who do research or are interested in research in Japanese linguistics, Japanese literature, Japanese language education, and Japanese language and culture.
The Association currently has a membership of approximately one thousand.
